Accessibility Policy

1. Our commitment

We aim to meet or work toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines where practical for a small, fast-moving product. Accessibility is ongoing work, not a one-time checkbox.

2. What we strive for

• Keyboard navigation — core flows (browse vault, sign up, log in, save items) should be operable without a mouse where feasible.
• Readable contrast — text and interactive elements use our design system with sufficient contrast in default themes.
• Semantic structure — headings, labels, and landmarks to support screen readers.
• Responsive layout — content reflows on smaller screens and zoom levels.
• Clear focus states — visible focus indicators on interactive controls.
• Text alternatives — meaningful alt text on important images where we control the asset.

3. Known limitations

We're honest about gaps we're still working on:

• Some third-party embeds (Stripe checkout, Google sign-in) are controlled by those providers and may not meet our internal standards.
• Older blog posts or imported opportunity descriptions may have inconsistent heading structure.
• Highly visual marketing sections may rely on color or layout cues we're improving over time.
• Automated scraper-imported content isn't always formatted for optimal screen-reader scanning.

4. Assistive technology

We test with common browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) and screen readers such as NVDA and VoiceOver on a best-effort basis. If something doesn't work with your setup, tell us — that's how we prioritize fixes.

5. Request accommodations

Need information in a different format, more time to complete an action, or help accessing a feature? Email hello@dare.diy with:

• The page or feature you're trying to use.
• Your assistive technology and browser (if relevant).
• A short description of the barrier you hit.

We'll respond as quickly as we can and work with you on a reasonable accommodation.

6. Report an accessibility issue

Found a bug — missing labels, keyboard trap, low contrast, or confusing focus order? Email hello@dare.diy with “Accessibility” in the subject line. Include the URL and steps to reproduce if possible.

7. Third-party content

Outbound links leave dare.diy. We can't control accessibility on scholarship sites, gig platforms, or affiliate landing pages. We choose reputable sources when possible.

8. Continuous improvement

We review accessibility as part of shipping new features — Broker tools, admin workflows, and vault updates included. This policy will be updated when we make meaningful changes.
